Embroidery is the handicraft of decorating fabric with needles and threads. Machine embroidery is used to add logos and images to business shirts or jackets, gifts, and team apparel as well as to decorate household items, draperies, and decorator fabrics that mimic the elaborate hand embroidery of the past. However embroidery is now most often used on caps, hats, coats, blankets, dress shirts, denim, stockings, and shirts.
Much contemporary embroidery is stitched with a computerized embroidery machine using patterns “digitized” with embroidery software. Digitization is the process of converting information into a digital format. Most modern embroidery machines are computer controlled and specifically engineered for embroidery. Backing and stabilizer are often used interchangeably to refer to materials, generally non-woven textiles, which are placed inside or under the item to be embroidered. This backing provides support and stability to the garment which will improve the quality of the finished embroidered product. Our embroidery machines have a hooping system that then goes onto the fabric and holds the framed area of the fabric under the sewing needle and moves it automatically to create the image from the “digitized” embroidery pattern, logo or design.

FlexStyle decorations can be applied to almost any product from garments to hard goods. This is due to the two different backing options:
- 3M – Sticker like backing.
- Heat Transferable – Glue backing activated by heat.
- Standard Embroidery – stitched right into the garment.
